RE: Annual Membership Renewal & Extended Discounted Memberships

Dear All

As you will all be aware, your annual Blackheath Squash Membership is due for renewal on 1 October 2019. The Committee has taken the decision to increase the annual membership fee to £120 for 2019/20 however, if you renew prior to 1st October 2019 then the cost will remain at £114. Junior membership (those Members under 18 years of age) will remain at £10 for 2019/20.

Given the popularity of the Club (200+ paid-up Members) please remember that Blackheath Squash Club is a Members only Club and that everyone who plays at the Club is required to be a Member. Consequently if you regularly play with a partner or friends etc – they too are required to join the Club.

The code to access the courts and the viewing balcony above will change from Monday 14th October 2019 and all members who have elected to renew their membership will be informed of the new code prior to the change taking place. Any members who have not renewed by this date will no longer be able to book a court using the online booking system. Once payment has been made, a new coloured keyring (colour yet to be determined for 2019/20) will be left behind the Main Bar of the Clubhouse for collection at your leisure. Members will only be able to purchase light tokens post 14th October if they are able to produce the new keyring.

As part of the fund raising for the Club’s redevelopment we offered a limited number of extended discounted memberships earlier this year. There are a number of these memberships still available. These represent a saving over the regular annual membership fee and offer inflation proofing over the term of the extended membership. The offer is:
- Ten year extended discounted membership for £900, representing a saving of £300 at the 2019/20 annual membership fee of £120; and
- Five year extended discounted membership for £470, representing a saving of £130 at the 2019/20 annual membership fee of £120..

Extended discounted memberships are non-transferable. They are also non-refundable except at the Squash Committee’s discretion where through an Act of God the courts become unavailable for play. Extended memberships will run from the 1 October 2019. You can apply by replying to this e-mail. All applications will be dealt with in strict order of receipt. Extended memberships must be paid in full by the end of September.

Your annual membership includes the following:

Box Leagues:

The Club organises a popular Box League, which presents 6 to 8 matches to be played over roughly a six to eight weekly period against players of a similar standard. This is an excellent way of quickly improving your game and fitness, as well as making new friends and contacts. If you are not already taking part and would like to join, please email Jon Brodie-Levinsohn at jonbrodielevinsohn@gmail.com to ensure that you are included.

Tournaments:

The Club runs two tournaments annually and entry to both tournaments is included in your annual membership fee. One tournament comprises the Club Championship which incorporates a plate, doubles and various age categories and a second tournament where different players are graded according to their strength and ability which anyone can win!! Details and dates of the tournaments are sent out in advance to ascertain who would like to play. These again provide a great opportunity to play players you might not otherwise play and to meet other people at the Club.

England Squash & Racketball Membership:

As we are an England Squash & Racketball Associated Club, your membership will include membership of England Squash & Racketball (for free!), from which you will gain…

• Access to exclusive pre-sale for Allam British Open and National Squash Championships tickets.

• Eligibility for England Squash & Racketball competitions and events. You can now enter all ESR competitions online at the click of a button.

• Regular news and updates from the world of squash through England Squash eZines.

• Electronic issues of The Squash Player magazine.
